Manufacturing Month is an annual national event executed locally with the support of thousands of manufacturers across the country as they host students, teachers, parents, job seekers and other local community members at open houses, plant tours and presentations designed to showcase today’s advanced manufacturing technology and high-wage career opportunities.
Florida ranks among the top three states for manufacturing establishments, with over 20,500 manufacturing establishments in business today. According to the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), Florida has over 384,000 manufacturing employees and Florida’s manufacturing industry has gained 12,600 jobs over the last year. In Florida, the average wage in manufacturing is over $60K, and the number and types of jobs available continues to increase.
To mark the event at a state level, Governor DeSantis declared October as Manufacturing Month in Florida by issuing a proclamation on September 26, 2019.
